Wave of Light 2018

Because of my seven pregnancy losses, the observance of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month is important to me.

During this month, families recognize the loss of their angel babies during pregnancy, at birth or the early stages of infancy. October 15 is considered PAIL AWARENESS DAY. And, families are encouraged to light a candle in memory of their angel babies at 7pm.

I added a pink and blue ribbon to my candle this year. These two colors are often used to recognize PAIL. Without realizing it, I created my blog several years ago with these two colors. And, I plan on keeping it this way.

I have found some peace and comfort in honoring my journey and talking about my miscarriages and the loss of Mackenzie.

Recently, I began to do guest posts for an organization called Share.  Share’s mission is “to serve those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through pregnancy loss, stillbirth or in the first few months of life. They strive to set a standard of personalized perinatal bereavement care through a lifetime of support, hope and healing – one family at a time.” You can take a look at my guest piece for PAIL Awareness

My pregnancy losses brought a lot of heartache and sorrow to my life. There were times I definitely questioned God and didn’t know when the pain would go away. But, I am grateful that I am given the opportunity to express my love in October. It’s not that I don’t hurt any other time of the year. But, I definitely feel a lot of support and encouragement to share during Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness.

I feel a sense of duty to share and to show other women that they can come out on the other side. This year, I felt led to design a shirt that I believe expresses the feelings of many bereaved families.  The shirt simply says “My Heart Belongs to an Angel”

Stay Saved,
